This is problematic for me because I would use this script on many svgs (e.g 60) all containing very large images (panoramic photos) These svgs take almost 10 seconds to open (on a decent machine). ** (inkscape:6211): CRITICAL **: 18:45:53.587: static void Inkscape::Extension::Effect::EffectVerb::perform(SPAction*, void*): assertion 'ensure_desktop_valid(action)' failed Step 1: Open your image First, if you haven’t already done so, open your image with Inkscape or import it onto your canvas. Inkscape 0.92.3 (2405546, ) interactive shell mode. Joined: Sat 6:33 pm Crop rather than clip a complex vector graphic Postby Anark » Sun 9:26 pm I would like to remove permanently certain areas from a vector graphic without needing to apply an intersection to every single path or merely hide the area using Object > Clip > Set. Unfortunately, it seems the verb for this operator cannot be used with the shell mode: $ inkscape -shell In bitmap based editor, you can easily do it usually by Shift+C. My second issue is that I'd like to avoid using the interface. Sometimes when you edit a vector image, you need to crop some objects. Setting them from a script would ensure that the same settings are used all the time, which would be safer in my situation. My first issue is that I would like to set the preferences of the Crop to Clip operator from the command line rather than using ".noprefs" which just uses the last used preferences. I use the following command but I still have issues with this method : inkscape myfile.svg -verb su-v/_crop_clip.noprefs -verb FileSave -verb FileQuit ![]()
